The program was carefully designed with an art teacher and local artist with a degree in fine arts. Together, we have selected the best places in Provence in the footsteps of the Great Impressionists.

Day 2 : ARLES UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE OF HUMANITY
In the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh: City of art and history, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, Arles has inspired Great Masters and especially Van Gogh who lived there for 15 months and experienced great productivity before suffering from a mental illness. More than 300 paintings were made during that time.

Day 3 : LES BAUX DE PROVENCE
Within the Alpilles Regional Natural Park, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France with a long and colorful history.

Day 4 : GORDES & ROUSSILLON
Le Luberon in its entire splendor
The day will begin with a visit of the picturesque perched village of GORDES followed by SENANQUE ABBEY with its beautiful lavender fields.
In the afternoon the group will take The Ochre Trail in Roussillon to discover the natural pigments, iron oxides color, and sand with shades ranging from yellow to violet.
Workshop on ochre: Derived from clay rocks it has been used as a natural pigment since prehistory and particularly in ancient Egypt and during the Renaissance period. The egg technique has been used to fill the pigments. Participants will learn these ancient techniques with their Art teacher and will have to use their creativity to produce their own piece of art using ochre.

Day 5 : AIX EN PROVENCE - SAINTE VICTOIRE
In the footsteps of PAUL CEZANNE
Visit of places, streets, and landscapes that have inspired Cezanne’s painting
Guided tour of the GRANET Museum
Visit of “Atelier de Cezanne” and the family house.
Lunch in Aix en Provence
In the afternoon the group will head to Mount SAINTE VICTOIRE. Cezanne was attracted to its enduring geometric form and the changing views offered by different lights and angles.
Workshop at the foot of Mont Sainte Victoire:
The technique of pastel, landscape composition, perspective, colors, shadows and light.

Day 6 : CASSIS & THE CALANQUES
Renoir discovered the region when he visited Paul Cezanne in 1882. Inspired by the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean’ sea, like others, he had fallen in love with the clear colors and the quality of light in the South of France.
